How to verify a story
- Download Bob47’s public key from this page.
- Open a story and download its story text and PGP signature.
- Import the key, then verify the signature against the unchanged text file.
gpg --import bob47-public-key.asc
gpg --verify story-name.txt.asc story-name.txt
A successful check reports a good signature from Bob47. A warning about the key not being certified is normal until you have independently confirmed that the fingerprint above genuinely belongs to Bob47.
What this proves
Authentic nonsense, carefully labelled.
A valid signature shows that the matching text was signed using Bob47’s private key and has not been altered afterward. It does not prove that events involving frogs, elbows or ambitious bins actually occurred.
Bob47’s private key and passphrase are never stored on this website. Only the shareable public key and detached signatures are published.
